Arrival

27 maart 2017 - Fukuoka, Japan

We arrived at our hotel, somewhere in the afternoon, though I can't recall the exact time. Our tour guide, Ayako, gave us this piece of paper with the planning for today and the day after. For today, it actually only said to "come to the robby" if you want to join for food. "Robby" :D
Oh and also, she gave her phone number ;) This was the first phone number I got from a Japanese girl.

I realized I was not particularly tired. I expected a major jetlag, but no, nothing of the sort. We didn't actually do anything special this afternoon though, so I just got to my room and relaxed for a bit. First thing I noticed, was something I had forgotten I heard about before. It's state of the art technology, not known anywhere else in the world!
I think..
Anyway, it's a.. toilet. And not just any toilet! Nooo, it's a toilet with a heated seat! That's amazing! And also several other functions, like a spray, to clean your ass!
There's still need for toilet paper though, because.. well.. your ass gets wet.

A little while later, we went out for our first traditional Japanese food: Ramen. We were walking around Fukuoka and arrived at a place where there's a few ramen restaurants. I really loved this already. All these restaurants with the lanterns hanging by the entrance and these little pieces of cloth. It reminded me a lot of the Naruto anime series. I'm sad to say that I did not take a picture of the meal I had in this restaurant, as later I tried to get a picture of every meal I had. Just to show my dad what I tried and to make him jealous of it too. But I didn't do that until later. Anyway, here I had my first bowl of ramen ever and it was soooo good.

Walking back to the hotel, still feeling energetic, nobody wanted to do anything else but sleep, so I thought I might as well do that as well. So I went back to the hotel, lay down on my bed and immediately found myself a sleep. Guess I did have kind of a jetlag..

Oh, As I'm scrolling through this pictures I found something else I noticed today. I think it was after dinner as it seems dark out. Vending machines. They are everywhere! All kinds of drinks anywhere on the streets, but no trashbins. And still.. no trash to be found. This is weird. Also the drinks on display in the vending machines are fake. Just like any food placed on displays by the way. Apparently there's a company that makes fake versions of food and drinks, solely for displaying in vending machines and restaurants.
