Going to SPACE!

11 april 2017 - Nikko, Japan

So, Nikko was quite far away.. but I couldn't actually go there early as the hostel I had booked was not on the route for any public transport. There was a free pickup service though. 16:30 I would have to be at Nikko JR station. So I had time to spare!
I thought I'd go to the owl cafe in the morning then.
closed.

So I just walked around for a bit. Went to this huge store, called "Don quixote". Apparently the Japanese call this store the "Donkey Hotel". Nice. Anyway, This store has everything! First floor is like a supermarket, one floor up, more like a convenience store. There was also a toy shop, jewelry, clothing and even a friggin' bike store!
Anyway, I bought some chopsticks and went off to Nikko. Couple of hours by train I believe. So I finally got my book out again. It's been a while since I've read from it to be honest. And that sentence sounds silly, but hey, you know what I mean. Though you probably already noticed I haven't read the book recently. As my way of writing is quite different. Atleast.. That's what I think. Just wait a few stories and the old way will return.. Because it was in Nikko that I changed my mind about writing stories. And so, in the coming days, stories would be more fresh. As I'd write em the same day. And not in one day. "Same day" and "one day" are vastly different, mind you! Plus, I'd write them after reading. As that kinda urged me to.

Anyway, I got off at Tobu Nikko station, got some food and went off to Nikko JR Station. And man! Was it cold... Yuki could've told me this place was in the mountains. I was only wearing a tshirt and.. Brrr...

I eventually arrived at the SPACE riverhouse Hostel. I'm not sure if this was the best hostel I've been to on this vacation. But it certainly was the best hostel experience. This evening I met a couple of great people and I've had so much fun with these guys! I played my first game of UNO ever, which is actually exactly the same as the Dutch card game: "Pesten" (literally: "Bullying"). Though we added some silly rules. I also learned an awesome card trick from Stephanie, one of the British girls. It left me in awe for atleast half an hour. But when she explained the trick, I felt kind of sad for not seeing through this.. We also played this game "Heads up!", which is a bit like charades. It was hilarious!
