Attack on skytree

10 april 2017 - Asakusa, Japan

Today was actually the only day I had really planned ahead.
I booked a tour to go see the Skytree. The World's Tallest Tower! I actually thought it was the second tallest, but this flyer I got says otherwise. I also thought it was over 700 meters high. Again, this flyer says otherwise: 634m. So why would someone need a tour, to visit a tower? You know, I find myself asking this question as well.. I think it's because someone told me it's best to buy a ticket beforehand. And Tripadvisor gave me an advice about this trip. And I took it. Should not have done that though.
The trip involved a bus trip around central Tokyo. Visiting places I had already been. By bus. And by bus I mean, just driving by. We only stopped at one place: The temple next to my hostel. There's only one thing I learned from this trip. Or two maybe. Actually.
#1 - The Asahi building is shaped like a beer glass. Asahi is a Japanese beer brand by the way.
#2 - I should not have done this. I could've just gone to the sky tree by myself. On foot. And checked the Aquarium there as well! But noooo.. I was silly.

Anyway, the view on the skytree was amazing! I walked around there for a while taking a lot of pictures, thinking every time: "oooh, now the view's even better!" I was there at sunset by the way. Looked really cool, but then I thought.. This could get even better if I were here at night. Tokyo by night. That would be awesome. So I thought I'd just get some food here and then maybe even go a deck higher. Which costs extra and was not included in the tour...
So I went to the restaurant, looked at the menu, and the price. And immediately turned around. Maybe I hadn't seen it right, but the price.. it was.. a lot! It would've been over 100 euros. But still.. I had my mind set on seeing Tokyo by night. So I did just one more round around this deck and made my way to the upper deck.
The upper deck wasn't only cooler because it was higher.. but also, because it had something I really did not expect there. It was themed after Attack on Titan! Another anime I love.

After the skytree I walked back to my hostel, and thought I'd go to the owl cafe just around the corner. Before that, however, I headed upstairs to my bed to fetch or drop something.. I don't remember exactly. I only know I messed up a few times and locked myself out of the room. Thankfully, a girl just arrived with a key and let me in. We talked for a bit and I invited her to join me in going to the owl cafe.
"You think it'll be open still?"
"Of course! Owls are nocturnal!"
I was wrong, the cafe was closed. So we just spent the evening talking and arranging stuff for our following days. Yuki told me I should go to Nikko, so I booked a hostel there for the coming days.
