Monkeys, Owls and karaoke!

14 april 2017 - Asakusa, Japan

So, my last day in Nikko. Or morning, really. I thought I'd finally go check out these famous temples. And to be honest, I didn't think they were that special. All these thingies about the three monkeys everywhere. Hear no evil, Speak no evil, See no evil. It really wasn't that special. I wouldn't have known this was the place where it originated if it weren't for all these souvenirs..

So I actually made my way back to Asakusa quite early. Asakusa is the district where I had already stayed in hostels. I actually went back to the same hostel. There would be a samurai show tomorrow.. couldn't miss that now, could I?

Anyway, I tried my luck with the owl cafe again. It was open! Yaaay! I got to pet all the owls and even had some of em on my arm. I like these birds! The big ones are quite heavy though!
But this cafe also had other animals as well,: some weird little monkey, a hedgehog and something I think was called a sugar dragon..? Check the pics!

After the owls, I went back to the hostel where I met this guy named Matt. A canadian heart transplant dude. We went for a beer and taught me quite a few things. About overcoming the shyness, and other things.
He asked me if I knew a bit about baseball. How after three strikes, it's batter out.
I tend to give myself two strikes, before even stepping up to the plate. And that's my problem.

We got some food and I asked if he wanted to join Yuki and me for karaoke!
This time, he brought his wife with him, and she brought a friend!
This time, we went to a really cheap karaoke bar. It was 3600 yen, ish.. for 5 hours of karaoke, including drinks. Let that sink in for a while. This means unlimited booze (beer, cocktails, whatever) for 5 hours, and you get to do some karaoke while at it!
It's a shame I cannot remember the name of the place, I only know it was near Ueno.

But, it's another 5 hours of karaoke. Did you keep track of the total?
